Mandate

The Ministry of Water Resources’ mandate are as follows:

• To formulate water resources policies and monitor the implementation of such policies in Sierra Leone;
• To source, analyse, store and disseminate information on water resource data countrywide.
• To establish, monitor and oversee parastatals within the Ministry i.e the Guma Valley Water Company and the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO)
• To initiate and implement water supply projects in all areas of the state;
• To liaise with the central government and international donor agencies on water supply and development for the benefit of the country;
• To set standards, regulate, supervise and control the use of all water resources in the country;
• To implement and provide legislation/ by-laws on water use;
• To collect and evaluate hydrological and sociological data
